This new dwelling has been located on a leafy street in the inner south of Canberra and replaces an old redbrick house. It has been designed as a family home with four bedrooms. The main living spaces located the rear of the block are designed to take best advantage of Canberra’s abundant winter solar gain and relate to the private open spaces created by the shape of the building.

The building form is conceived as to be strong pavilion forms with traditional almost European reforms that are separated by a contrasting and texturally different vertical element that introduces some drama to the entry.

Double glazing, good insulation and a high degree of thermal mass contribute to making this building energy efficient.
